1. What led you to write about mythology? How did your journey start?
Everyone loves reading myths, I was lucky enough to be able to stay with that love. They're full of magic and wonder. My parents gave me lots of mythology and fairy tales and folk tale books when I was a child, stories from all over the world. I still have those books and still read them.
2. What is the role of translation in literature, according to you?
Translation is as important as original writing -- translation brings world literature to us.
I can't imagine having access to books written only in the languages I know, how narrow and dull that would be.
3. What do you think is the role of literature festival?
Literature festivals play many roles -- the most important on being putting readers and writers in touch with each other. We see each other face to face, that's a good thing. It's also a chance for writers to meet and talk and to realise that wherever we come from in the world and whatever language we write in, our concerns are the same.
